el-cazador-el-la-bruja-dvd
El Cazador El La Bruja DVD
Ellis is a young woman with no memory of her past and a bounty on her head large enough to draw every mercenary and government operative in the region. Nadie is a brash, quick-drawing bounty hunter who takes the contract — and then decides protecting Ellis is more important than collecting. The two hit the road heading south through a sun-bleached landscape of desert towns, roadside shrines, and crossed wires between ancient magic and modern science. Ellis can do things that shouldn't be possible. Men in suits are following them. A conspiracy called Project Leviathan connects Ellis's blank past to dangerous research, and the further south they travel, the more dangerous the people who want to find them become. What Nadie doesn't fully account for is how much she comes to care about the amnesiac girl she is supposed to be delivering somewhere — and what that will cost her when they finally run out of road.

El Cazador de la Bruja is the third and final entry in Bee Train director Koichi Mashimo's "girls with guns" trilogy, following Noir and Madlax. Like its predecessors it was written by Kenichi Kanemaki and scored by Yuki Kajiura — whose contributions across all three series represent some of her most celebrated work. Where Noir was set in Europe and Madlax in a fictional war-torn country, El Cazador transplants the formula to a Latin American road trip aesthetic: warm colors, rural poverty, tamales, and a desert highway that stretches into myth. The series aired on TV Tokyo from April to September 2007. Originally released in North America by FUNimation on two DVD collection sets — Collection 1 (eps 1–13, 2 discs) and Collection 2 (eps 14–26, 2 discs) — before being reissued as a Complete Series 4-disc set on March 8, 2011, and a S.A.V.E. budget edition on July 10, 2012.

Notable Staff & Voice Talent

Director: Koichi Mashimo (Noir, Madlax, Sorcerer Hunters, Gate Keepers, .hack//SIGN, Captain Tylor OVA)
Screenplay: Kenichi Kanemaki (Noir, Madlax, Labyrinth of Flames)
Studio: Bee Train (Noir, Madlax, Arc the Lad TV)
Music: Yuki Kajiura (Noir, Madlax, Fate/Zero, Puella Magi Madoka Magica)
Opening Theme: "Hikari no Yukue" by Savage Genius
Ending Theme: "Romanesque" by FictionJunction Yuuka

Japanese Cast:
- Ai Shimizu as Ellis (Mahoromatic Something More Beautiful, Haibane Renmei additional cast)
- Nana Mizuki as Nadie (Vandread, Gate Keepers, Hyper Speed GranDoll)
- Yuki Kajiura as Rosenberg (composer voicing a character — uncredited in Japan)
- Rikiya Koyama as L.A.
- Fumihiko Tachiki as Douglas Rosenberg (Evangelion — voice of Gendo)

English Dub Cast (FUNimation — ADR Director: Christopher Bevins):
- Maxey Whitehead as Ellis (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood — voice of Alphonse)
- Trina Nishimura as Nadie (Attack on Titan — voice of Mikasa)
- Bob Carter as Douglas Rosenberg
- Clarine Harp as additional cast
- Lisa Nishimura as additional cast

DVD Features (Collection 1 & 2)

- Collection 1: Episodes 1–13 on 2 Discs
- Collection 2: Episodes 14–26 on 2 Discs
- 16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen
- English 5.1 Dolby Digital / Japanese 2.0 Dolby Digital
- FUNimation Previews

Spoken Languages: English & Japanese Audio, English Subtitles

Edition Details

Japanese Title: エル・カザド (Eru Kazado / El Cazador de la Bruja)
Runtime: ~650 Minutes (Complete Series, 26 Episodes, 4 Discs across 2 Collections)
Director: Koichi Mashimo
DVD Release Year: 2009–2010 (U.S. Collection 1 & 2 individual sets); Complete Series 4-disc set March 8, 2011; S.A.V.E. reissue July 10, 2012
Original Broadcast Date (Japan): April 2 – September 24, 2007 (TV Tokyo)
Publisher: FUNimation Entertainment
Rating: 17+
Region: Region 1 (U.S. / Canada)
Genre: Action, Mystery, Road Trip
Themes: Girls with Guns Trilogy Finale, Latin American Desert Setting, Project Leviathan, Yuki Kajiura Score, Bee Train Mashimo Trilogy Conclusion

Media assumed VG+ unless otherwise noted.
