sorcerer-hunters-ova-dvd
Sorcerer Hunters (OVA) DVD
The Spooner Continent enjoys a brief respite from Sorcerer Hunters business. Episode one sends the entire team to a hot springs resort — which sounds relaxing until Carrot attempts to seduce a beautiful older woman while Chocolate attempts to seduce Carrot, and the whole situation escalates beyond the capabilities of any vacation. Episode two pits the Hunters against the Death Master, an evil necromancer who has transformed an entire town into willing zombie slaves — a situation that is somehow both life-threatening and comedic. Episode three brings further chaos in the continuing tradition of the TV series' approach: maximum fan service, minimum dignity, genuine affection for all involved.

The Sorcerer Hunters OVA is a three-episode companion series to the TV series, directed by Takao Kato, produced by Xebec, and scored by Kenji Kawai — returning from the TV series. Released in Japan from December 21, 1996 to April 23, 1997 as a direct continuation of the TV series' tone and cast. The OVA does not resolve the TV series' dramatic arc but functions as extended comedy episodes for fans of the ensemble. The English dub uses the same ADV Films cast as the TV series. Originally released in North America on VHS by ADV Films; the DVD — titled "Chocolate Springs & Other Hot Things!" — was released November 25, 2003, running approximately 75 minutes. A Perfect Collection Thinpak box set combining the complete TV series and OVA was released December 18, 2007. The Discotek Media Blu-ray (August 27, 2019) collects the complete TV series and OVA on a single standard-definition disc.

Notable Staff & Voice Talent

Director: Takao Kato
Original Light Novel / Manga: Satoru Akahori & Rei Omishi (Sorcerer Hunters)
Studio: Xebec (Nadesico, Dual!, Love Hina, Tenchi GXP, Sorcerer Hunters TV)
Music: Kenji Kawai (Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor 1 & 2, Jin-Roh, Vampire Princess Miyu TV, Sorcerer Hunters TV)

Japanese Cast:
- Shin'ichiro Miki as Carrot Glace (Escaflowne, Vampire Princess Miyu, Gokudo, Fushigi Yugi, Sorcerer Hunters TV, Descendants of Darkness)
- Yuko Miyamura as Tira Misu (Evangelion, Apocalypse Zero, Rurouni Kenshin, Sorcerer Hunters TV, Hyper Police)
- Yuri Amano as Chocolate Misu (El-Hazard, Burn Up W, Magic User's Club, Moldiver, Sorcerer Hunters TV, Noir, Key the Metal Idol)
- Takehito Koyasu as Marron Glace (Slayers, Escaflowne, Gate Keepers, Fushigi Yugi, Sorcerer Hunters TV)
- Hideo Ishikawa as Gateau Mocha (Getter Robo Armageddon)
- Kikuko Inoue as Big Momma (Tenchi Universe, El-Hazard, Gate Keepers, Oh My Goddess!, Noir, Saint Tail, Fruits Basket)

English Dub Cast (ADV Films — Houston):
- Jason Douglas as Carrot Glace (Sorcerer Hunters TV, Arc the Lad, City Hunter, Dragon Ball Super — Beerus)
- Kira Vincent-Davis as Chocolate Misu (Sorcerer Hunters TV, Steel Angel Kurumi, Nadesico)
- Tiffany Grant as Tira Misu (Evangelion, Nadesico, Sorcerer Hunters TV, Burn Up Excess, Noir, City Hunter)
- Brett Weaver as Marron Glace (Sorcerer Hunters TV, Legend of Crystania)
- Rob Mungle as Gateau Mocha (Sorcerer Hunters TV, Legend of Crystania)
- Marcy Bannor as Big Momma (Sorcerer Hunters TV, Burn Up Excess)

DVD Features (ADV Films, "Chocolate Springs & Other Hot Things!")

- All 3 OVA Episodes on Single Disc (~75 min)
- ADV Films Previews
- Note: Perfect Collection Thinpak (TV series + OVA, 7 discs) released December 18, 2007; Discotek Media SD Blu-ray (TV + OVA) released August 27, 2019

Spoken Languages: English & Japanese Audio, English Subtitles

Edition Details

Japanese Title: 爆れつハンター OVA (Bakuretsu Hantā OVA / Sorcerer Hunters OVA)
Runtime: ~75 Minutes (Complete OVA, 3 Episodes)
Director: Takao Kato
DVD Release Year: 2003 (U.S. Release, November 25 — ADV Films); Perfect Collection Thinpak December 18, 2007; Discotek Media SD Blu-ray August 27, 2019
Original Release Date (Japan): December 21, 1996 – April 23, 1997
Publisher: ADV Films
Rating: 17+
Region: Region 1 (U.S. / Canada)
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Fan Service
Themes: Hot Springs Episode, Necromancer Villain, Sorcerer Hunters TV Companion, Same Cast and Crew, Extended Comedy OVA

Media assumed VG+ unless otherwise noted.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0565/7673/7365/files/6135C094-6634-463E-9F18-C44D46B11B5F.jpg?v=1781578472
