The Vatican governs human civilization; the New Human Empire rules the east. Between them: an uneasy non-war held together by politics and assassination. Father Abel Nightroad is an AX special operations agent for the Vatican — clumsy, cheerful, perpetually broke, and secretly a Crusnik, a being that feeds on vampire blood and transforms into something terrifyingly powerful in combat. Alongside him are Sister Esther Blanchett, an Albion novice whose convictions are tested at every turn, and Father Tres Iqus, an android priest whose loyalty is absolute and emotional range is not. The AX team operates in the shadow of a conspiracy older than the organization itself.

Trinity Blood is a 24-episode supernatural action series produced by Gonzo — the studio behind Hellsing, Gantz, Basilisk, Strike Witches, and Rosario + Vampire — directed by Tomohiro Hirata, written by Atsuhiro Tomioka, scored by Yoshihisa Hirano, and based on the posthumously published light novel series by Sunao Yoshida, illustrated by Thores Shibamoto, published under Kadokawa Shoten's Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko label. Yoshida died in a traffic accident in July 2004 before the novel series was complete; the anime aired from April to October 2005 and adapts the first several arcs of the novels, ending before the story's resolution. The anime is notable for its visual design — Thores Shibamoto's elaborate character illustrations translate into unusually detailed costume and production design, and the series' Gothic Catholic aesthetic is among the most distinctive in the genre. The English dub was produced by FUNimation with Troy Baker as Abel Nightroad. FUNimation released the Viridian Collection 4-disc Complete Collection on March 24, 2009, collecting all 24 episodes at 528 minutes.

Notable Staff & Voice Talent

Director: Tomohiro Hirata
Series Composition: Atsuhiro Tomioka
Original Light Novel: Sunao Yoshida (posthumous), illustrated by Thores Shibamoto (Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko; English license: Tokyopop)
Studio: Gonzo
Music: Yoshihisa Hirano
Opening Theme: "Dress" by Buck-Tick
Ending Theme: "Never" by Tomoko Tane

Japanese Cast:
- Hiroki Touchi as Abel Nightroad
- Mamiko Noto as Esther Blanchett
- Takako Honda as Caterina Sforza
- Kazuya Nakai as Tres Iqus
- Junko Minagawa as Ion Fortuna
- Hitomi Nabatame as Astharoshe Asran

English Dub Cast (FUNimation):
- Troy Baker as Abel Nightroad
- Hilary Haag as Esther Blanchett
- Colleen Clinkenbeard as Caterina Sforza
- John Swasey as Tres Iqus
- Brina Palencia as Ion Fortuna
- Monica Rial as Astharoshe Asran

DVD Features (FUNimation Viridian Collection, March 24, 2009)

- All 24 Episodes on 4 Discs — 528 Minutes
- Textless Opening & Closing Songs
- Trailers
- FUNimation Previews
- Note: Original FUNimation 6-disc Collector's Box Set (November 13, 2007) included tarot cards and 24-page booklet; Anime Classics 4-disc set also available (August 14, 2012)

Spoken Languages: English & Japanese Audio, English Subtitles

Edition Details

Japanese Title: トリニティ・ブラッド (Toriniti Buraddo / Trinity Blood)
Original Japanese Broadcast: 2005 (April 29 - October 7, MBS)
Runtime: 528 Minutes (Complete Series, 24 Episodes, 4 Discs)
Director: Tomohiro Hirata
DVD Release Year: 2009 (U.S. Viridian Collection, March 24 — FUNimation Entertainment)
Publisher: FUNimation Entertainment
Rating: 17+
Region: Region 1 (U.S. / Canada)
Genre: Action, Drama, Science Fiction, Supernatural
Themes: Vampires, Post-Apocalyptic, Vatican Conspiracy, Gothic Catholic Aesthetic, Crusnik

Media assumed VG+ unless otherwise noted.

Only multiple item orders that combine to $120 or more get free shipping.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0565/7673/7365/files/43F32AFD-F418-4F49-AABD-DDD4C403FEFB.jpg?v=1792530158
