Yakumo Fujii is a Tokyo teenager living an ordinary life — until the night he meets Pai, a strange and childlike girl from Tibet who turns out to be the last surviving member of the Sanjiyan Unkara, an ancient race of three-eyed immortals with devastating supernatural power. When Yakumo is fatally wounded saving her from her own monstrous pet, Pai instinctively absorbs his soul to keep him alive — binding him to her as her "Wu," an immortal undead servant who can heal from any wound but cannot truly die as long as Pai lives. Now permanently connected, the two must travel the world in search of the legendary Statue of Humanity, the only artifact that can grant Pai her greatest wish: to become a normal human girl — and in doing so, restore Yakumo's mortality and soul. Standing in their way is Benares, a terrifyingly powerful servant of the slumbering demon god Kaiyanwang, and a host of shadow world monsters who want Pai's power for themselves.

3 x 3 Eyes is a dark fantasy classic from the golden age of anime OVAs, based on Yuzo Takada's sprawling 40-volume manga series that ran from 1987 to 2002. Produced by Toei Animation and featuring the unforgettable dual performance of Megumi Hayashibara as the sweet Pai and the fearsome Sanjiyan, the two OVA series blend graphic supernatural horror, inventive creature design, and an emotionally resonant central relationship into one of the most compelling dark fantasy anime of its era. The Pioneer/Geneon DVD release features a newly produced English dub directed by Greg Weisman (Gargoyles, Young Justice), with much of the Gargoyles voice cast reprising roles — including Brigitte Bako and Keith David. This complete collection brings together both the original four-episode OVA and the three-episode sequel Legend of the Divine Demon.
