A.D. Police: To Protect And Serve DVD

A massive earthquake has reduced Tokyo to rubble, and from the ruins a new city has risen — Genom City, rebuilt and controlled by the Genom Corporation, whose humanoid robots called VOOMERS (Voodoo Organic Metal Extension Resources) provide nearly all the city's labor. When a VOOMER goes rogue and turns into a violent, unstoppable BOOMER, it falls to the A.D. Police — the Advanced Police's special anti-BOOMER strike force — to neutralize the threat before the city pays the price. Kenji Sasaki is one of their best: a lone wolf with superior reflexes and a reputation for burning through partners. After his latest partner ends up critically injured, Kenji is forcibly assigned a new one — Hans Kleif, a German cop who lost his memories in an accident and only recently transferred in. The catch: Kenji already punched Hans in the face at a bar the night before. What begins as a thoroughly dysfunctional partnership slowly deepens into something neither man expected, as the two navigate rogue androids, corporate conspiracy, and the shadow of the powerful Packer Syndicate operating in Genom City's shadows.

A.D. Police: To Protect and Serve is a 1999 cyberpunk police drama set in the rebooted Bubblegum Crisis universe, serving as a prequel to Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040. Produced by AIC and directed by Hidehito Ueda, the 12-episode series takes a decidedly more grounded and character-driven approach than the flashy action of its parent franchise, focusing on the evolving partnership between its two leads against a backdrop of corporate crime and androids-gone-wrong.
