Another Crab’s Treasure - PlayStation 5

Another Crab's Treasure for the PlayStation 5 is a Soulslike action-adventure developed by indie studio Aggro Crab, released on April 25, 2024.

Kril is a hermit crab whose shell has been repossessed by a literal loan shark, acting on behalf of the Dutchy of the Reef and its new tax on all citizens. To win it back, Kril needs money and a lot of it, thus he'll need to find a legendary treasure buried somewhere beneath the ocean floor. What follows is a journey through a vibrant, deeply polluted underwater world where trash is both currency and fashion, sea creatures have built a whole civilization on human waste, and a mysterious infection called the Gunk is spreading through the ecosystem with no clear cause.

The combat pulls directly from the Dark Souls template — dodge, strike, parry, manage stamina, learn enemy patterns — but wraps it in a colorful aesthetic and a genuinely funny script that earns its absurdist premise. The central mechanic is shell-swapping: Kril has no natural protection and must wear whatever discarded objects he finds as a makeshift shell, from bottle caps to soda cans to rubber duck named Bartholomew. Each shell has different defensive properties with various durability levels. Your MP gauge, “Umami,” charges through combat and powers a range of special attacks and abilities. Difficulty is adjustable at any time without penalty, including an Assist Mode with granular options, making it one of the more accessible Soulslikes available.
