Set in a painstakingly detailed recreation of Tokyo’s iconic Akihabara district circa 2011, Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed follows Nanashi, a young otaku who is transformed into a "Shadow Soul"—a vampiric being vulnerable only to sunlight. After being rescued by a mysterious girl named Rui, Nanashi is drawn into a secret war between a government agency and the supernatural forces threatening the "Electric Town." This 10th Anniversary remaster brings the original PSP cult classic to high definition, allowing players to explore authentic street layouts and shops while navigating a quirky, self-aware narrative filled with multiple endings and branching story paths.

The gameplay is a unique blend of 3D beat-’em-up action and light RPG exploration centered on the series’ infamous "Strip Battle" mechanic. Because Shadow Souls are only defeated when their skin is exposed to the sun, you must target and weaken individual pieces of clothing—headwear, tops, and bottoms—before ripping them away in stylish, over-the-top sequences. Players can arm themselves with an arsenal of otaku-themed weapons, ranging from rolled-up posters and keyboards to actual replicas, while managing a deep customization system that emphasizes fashion and street subcultures.
