Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts - Blu-Ray & DVD

Fumizuki Academy has a unique system: students are sorted into classes based on their academic test scores, with Class A receiving luxurious facilities and Class F — the bottom of the barrel — getting crumbling desks, rotten tatami, and a kettle. When students disagree, they settle it through Summoner Test Wars: battles using small avatars called Shoukanjuu whose strength is determined by each student's most recent test scores. Akihisa Yoshii is the biggest idiot in Class F, which makes him one of the weakest summoners in the school. His classmates include Yuuji Sakamoto, the delinquent strategist who becomes class representative; Mizuki Himeji, a genius girl who ended up in Class F due to a fever during the placement exam; Minami Shimada, a girl with a short fuse and an iron fist; Kouta Tsuchiya, a boy whose only academic interest is photographing girls; and Hideyoshi Kinoshita, who is so beautiful that the school built a separate bathroom exclusively for him. Together, Class F declares war on the entire school system.

Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts is a 13-episode comedy produced by Brain's Base, directed by Shin Onuma, written by Katsuhiko Takayama, scored by Akito Matsuda, and based on Kenji Inoue's light novel series published under Enterbrain's Famitsu Bunko label. The series aired in Japan from January to April 2010. The English dub was produced by FUNimation under ADR director Terri Doty. FUNimation released the complete first season on August 2, 2011 as both a Limited Edition Blu-ray + DVD combo (chipboard box) and a standard Blu-ray + DVD combo. A S.A.V.E. DVD edition followed September 2, 2014.
