Black Lagoon - Blu-ray & DVD

Rokuro Okajima is a salaryman in a Tokyo corporation — unremarkable, overworked, and sent on a business trip to Southeast Asia that goes catastrophically wrong when the Lagoon Company, a crew of modern pirates operating out of the lawless city of Roanapur, takes his ship and uses him as a hostage. When his company abandons him rather than pay the ransom, Rokuro makes a decision: he stays. He joins the crew, takes the name Rock, and begins a new life in a city where criminal organizations, assassins, mercenaries, and every other variety of dangerous person operates openly. Dutch is the captain — calm, professional, with a background nobody fully explains. Benny is the technician and navigator, educated and out of place. And Revy is the gunfighter — aggressive, furious, brilliantly violent, and carrying enough trauma to explain the fury without making it comfortable. Rock, who has no combat skills and talks instead of shoots, is a stranger in this world. His ability to navigate it through conversation rather than bullets is both his asset and, to Revy, a persistent source of irritation.

Black Lagoon is a 24-episode action crime series produced by Madhouse — the studio behind Ninja Scroll, Claymore, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Paprika, and Texhnolyze — directed by Sunao Katabuchi, written by Rei Hiroe based on his own manga serialized in Sunday GX magazine under Shogakukan. Season 1 (12 episodes) aired from April to June 2006 and Season 2, The Second Barrage (12 episodes), aired from October to December 2006. Both seasons ran on Chiba TV and later aired on Adult Swim in the United States in 2008. The English dub was produced by FUNimation with Maryke Hendrikse as Revy and Brad Swaile as Rock. FUNimation released the complete Seasons 1 and 2 Blu-ray + DVD Combo on December 4, 2012 — 24 episodes across 3 BD + 4 DVD discs, 600 minutes, rated TV-MA. The Roberta's Blood Trail OVA (6 episodes) is a separate release.
