Brave Witches - Blu-Ray

Hikari Karibuchi is the younger sister of Takami — an elite Witch of the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing, the Brave Witches, stationed in Petersburg to defend Europe from the Neuroi. Hikari has considerably less raw magical ability than her sister, but considerably more determination. When Takami is critically injured in battle and cannot serve, Hikari takes her place in the 502nd — technically in her sister's stead, practically because she refuses to leave. Her unit is skeptical. Her magic output is low. Her familiar ability, Absolute Eye, lets her see Neuroi core locations clearly but not destroy them — she needs her squadmates to finish the job. The series follows Hikari working to prove she belongs, while the 502nd fights a war and she begins developing a magic that is entirely her own.

Brave Witches is a 13-episode series produced by Silver Link — the studio behind Chaos;Child, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, Non Non Biyori, Battle Girl High School, and OniAi — directed by Kazuhiro Takamura, returning from both Strike Witches television seasons and the Strike Witches film, and based on Fumikane Shimada's Strike Witches franchise focusing on a new unit. It aired in Japan from October 2016 to January 2017. The series functions as a standalone entry in the World Witches franchise — prior knowledge of Strike Witches is helpful but not required.
