Crime and terrorism have spiraled so far out of control in near-future Neo-Tokyo that the police have had to get creative. Enter Team Warrior — a covert, all-female special ops unit deployed when conventional law enforcement just isn't going to cut it. Rio is the team's frontline pointman: blonde, bubbly, perpetually broke from her shopping addiction, and dangerously effective in a fight despite her constant complaints about her salary. Maya is the trigger-happy sharpshooter who joined specifically for the opportunity to shoot things — preferably large things — and feels something like withdrawal when missions don't deliver. Lilica is the genius pink-haired hacker holding down the tech side from HQ. Together they tackle cases involving virtual idol blackmail, underwater arms smuggling, rogue android hunters, and a full-scale assault on police headquarters — leaving a trail of property damage, exploded budgets, and perplexed supervisors in their wake.

Burn Up W is a fast, fun, and thoroughly unabashed action comedy OVA that leans hard into the "sexy female cop team" subgenre that defined a good chunk of the mid-90s direct-to-video anime market — and executes it with genuine energy and charm. A spiritual sequel to the original 1991 Burn Up! OVA, and the predecessor to the TV series Burn Up Excess.
