A serial killer is targeting police officers. Ran witnesses one of the murders and the shock induces total amnesia — she no longer recognizes Conan, her father, or anyone she knows. The killer, aware she is a witness, makes her the next target. Conan must identify and stop the murderer while protecting a Ran who no longer knows him, against the clock before another attack. The film is notable for its emotional weight — the gap between what Conan knows and cannot say is sharper than usual here — and for its surprisingly tense climax.
Case Closed: Captured in Her Eyes is the fourth Detective Conan theatrical film, directed by Kenji Kodama and released in Japan on April 22, 2000, earning ¥2.5 billion at the box office.
Released in North America on DVD by FUNimation Entertainment on December 29, 2009. Several translation errors in the English dub make Detective Sato appear to have died when she was actually in a coma — an error that persists through the credits.
