Case Closed: Season Five - DVD

Season Five of Detective Conan is a landmark stretch of the franchise: it introduces Ai Haibara, a young girl who is herself a former member of the Black Organization — the scientist who created the very poison that shrunk Jimmy Kudo — and who has taken the same drug and now exists in a child's body under the name Vi Graythorn. Her arrival changes the series permanently, providing Conan with someone who actually knows his secret, understands the danger he is in, and carries her own devastating history. Season Five also begins the franchise's most sustained engagement with the Black Organization's larger mythology.

The fifth season of Case Closed covers episodes 106–130 in English numbering and introduces the character of Ai Haibara / Vi Graythorn. FUNimation dubbed half of Season 5 — the last 11 episodes including Ai Haibara's debut were left out of the Season 5 DVD, though the movies that FUNimation later dubbed do include the character renamed "Vi Graythorn."

The Season Five DVD was released by Sentai Filmworks as a subtitle-only complete collection, making it the first Case Closed season available in its entirety in English — with the dub-excluded final episodes included as subtitled-only content. The Ai Haibara debut episodes are presented in Japanese audio with English subtitles.
