Kio Kakazu is a mild-mannered high school student in Okinawa attending a memorial service for his ancestor when a girl with cat ears and a tail appears, drinks all the sake, and falls asleep on him. She is Eris, a Catian - an emissary from the planet Catia sent to Earth to establish diplomatic relations with humanity. Catians look exactly like humans except for the ears, the tail, and a personal philosophy of absolute openness that makes them constitutionally incapable of deception or modesty. Eris takes up residence in Kio's house. Three organizations immediately compete to control her: a shadowy cult that wants to prevent Catians from establishing contact, a covert government agency with its own agenda, and the organization the Catians themselves send to protect Eris. The agents from two of those organizations happen to be girls at Kio's school who have been carrying secret crushes on him. Everything escalates from there.

Cat Planet Cuties - known in Japan as Asobi ni Iku yo! - is a 12-episode science fiction romantic comedy produced by Anime International Company, directed by Yoichi Ueda, written by Fumihiko Shimo, scored by Tomoki Kikuya, and based on Okina Kamino's light novel series published under Media Factory's MF Bunko J label - 20 volumes from 2003 to 2015.
