In a near-future Tokyo where humanoid personal computers called Persocoms have become a part of everyday life, Hideki Motosuwa is a country boy fresh off the farm with big dreams of getting into college — and an even bigger dream of owning a Persocom of his own. Too broke to buy one, his luck changes the night he discovers a beautiful Persocom abandoned in a trash heap. He takes her home, powers her up, and finds that she can only say one word: "Chi." As Hideki struggles through prep school, part-time jobs, and the baffling task of teaching Chi about the world, a mystery begins to unfold — Chi may not be an ordinary Persocom at all. She may be a "Chobit," a legendary android rumored to possess something no machine should have: true feelings of her own.

Chobits is one of CLAMP's most beloved works, a warmhearted romantic comedy that quietly asks big questions about love, identity, and what it truly means to be human.
