Takashi Kamiyama is an utterly average, law-abiding high school student who accidentally enrolls at Cromartie High School—a notorious dumping ground for the city's toughest, meanest, and most terrifying delinquents. Determined to improve the school's abysmal reputation from the inside, Kamiyama attempts to make friends and survive his daily routines. However, the student body is far from typical: his classmates include a mohawked tough guy who gets motion sickness, a menacing gorilla who somehow understands human language, a towering mute robot named Mechazawa whom everyone insists is human, and a shirtless Freddie Mercury lookalike who rides a horse down the hallways. Amidst constant turf wars, absurd philosophical debates, and surreal daily encounters, Kamiyama tries to hold onto his sanity in a world of pure, unadulterated nonsense.

Based on Eiji Nonaka’s hit gag manga and produced by Production I.G (FLCL, Ghost in the Shell), Cromartie High School (Sakigake!! Kuromati Kōkō) is a legendary deadpan comedy classic. Directed by Hiroaki Sakurai (Di Gi Charat, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.), the series is famous for its stoic visual humor, hard-rock soundtrack, and parody of traditional 1980s delinquent anime tropes.
