Cross Edge - Playstation 3

Cross Edge for the PlayStation 3 is a crossover JRPG developed by Idea Factory and Compile Heart in collaboration with five Japanese publishers simultaneously: Capcom, Nippon Ichi Software, Namco Bandai, Gust Corporation, and Idea Factory itself. The roster draws from Darkstalkers (Morrigan, Felicia, Jedah), Disgaea (Etna, Prinny), Ar tonelico (Lyner, Ayatane), Spectral Souls, and Atelier Marie and Mana Khemia, placing all of these characters in an original nightmare dimension where trapped souls must be freed to restore the world. York Neely, an original protagonist, serves as the player character alongside his childhood friend Miko, with fan-favorite characters from the above franchises joining throughout the story.

The gameplay is a turn-based JRPG built around chained combo attacks. Players assemble a party from the crossover roster and select attack sequences in battle, with successful chains unlocking more powerful combination moves and increasing damage output. Collecting and freeing souls scattered across world maps and dungeons progresses the story and unlocks new events, characters, and items. A costume system lets players change female characters' appearances, which also modifies their stats and abilities by giving them alternate "forms" tied to each costume. Item combining and alchemy provide crafting depth outside of battles.

Developed by Compile Heart and published by NIS America in North America on May 26, 2009. For fans of the franchises represented, the appeal is clear; the game remains one of the few official crossovers to bring Darkstalkers, Disgaea, and Ar tonelico characters into a shared RPG context.
