Cyber Troopers Virtual-On for the Sega Saturn is the home port of Sega AM3's landmark 1995 arcade mech combat game — a genre-defying hybrid of 3D fighting and third-person shooter that became one of the most celebrated arcade experiences of its era. Set in a dystopian corporate future where humanity has spread to other planets and discovered alien technology capable of creating giant mechanized soldiers called Virtuaroids, a rogue supercomputer has seized control of the testing ground and activated an ultimate weapon called the Sun Cannon. Eight elite Virtuaroids and their pilots set out to destroy it.

Battles are one-on-one across ten fully 3D arenas where players can run, dash in any direction, climb structures, take cover behind buildings, and fight across multiple rounds. Each of the eight Virtuaroids — Temjin, Fei-Yen, Apharmd, Belgdor, Raiden, Dorkas, Bal-Bas-Bow, and Viper II — has entirely different weapons, movement speed, and attack range. Ranged combat dominates at a distance, but closing to melee range transforms basic attacks into more devastating strikes, creating a constant push-pull between suppressive fire and aggressive rushdowns.

The game was designed around twin-stick arcade controls — each joystick independently controls movement and aiming — and Sega released a dedicated Saturn Twin Stick peripheral specifically for this game. It is fully playable on the standard Saturn pad, but the Twin Stick is the definitive way to experience it. Two-player online multiplayer was supported via the Saturn NetLink and XBAND services. The Saturn port was later bundled with the console itself in Japan — a mark of how significant Sega considered the game to its platform.

Released in Japan on November 29, 1996, the game spawned a beloved franchise including Oratorio Tangram on Dreamcast and has remained a cult favorite among mech game enthusiasts ever since. This is the Japanese import disc. The Sega Saturn is region-locked and this disc will only play on a Japanese Sega Saturn or a region-free modded unit. Gameplay menus are largely the same as the Western release.
