One year after a giant alien starship crash-landed in Tokyo Bay, the 150 extraterrestrial survivors—dubbed "DearS" (Dear Friends) by the public—have successfully integrated into human society as friendly, beautiful guests. Takeya Ikuhara is an ill-tempered, pragmatic high school student who harbors a deep distrust of the alien visitors and wants nothing to do with them. His life turns completely upside down when he stumbles upon a lost DearS girl wrapped only in a blanket. After taking her in, she fixes her gaze on him, pledges her absolute loyalty, and names herself "Ren." Unbeknownst to Takeya, Ren is a zero-numbered unit whose innate purpose is to serve a master—and she has chosen him, thrusting the reluctant teen into a chaotic living situation filled with alien fan culture, school drama, and shadowy handlers who want Ren back.
Based on the popular manga series created by PEACH-PIT (Rozen Maiden, Shugo Chara!) and produced by Studio Bandai Visual / Hal Film Maker (Princess Tutu, Aria the Animation), DearS is a classic early-2000s sci-fi romantic comedy. Directed by Iku Suzuki, the series blends slapstick humor, harem hijinks, and charming alien-meets-human dynamics with a touch of fan service. Released on DVD by Geneon Entertainment (formerly Pioneer), this complete collection features the original Japanese broadcast episodes in full physical glory with dual-language options.
