Produced by Sunrise (Cowboy Bebop, Mobile Suit Gundam) and directed by Kazuyoshi Katayama (Giant Robo) with iconic concept design by Keiichi Sato (Tiger & Bunny), 1999's The Big O is a legendary fusion of American hardboiled detective noir, retro-futuristic art deco aesthetics, and explosive giant robot combat. Written by Chiaki J. Konaka (Serial Experiments Lain), the first season gained immense popularity in North America on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, celebrated for its stylish atmosphere, Batman-esque mood, and cinematic orchestral score by Toshihiko Sahashi. Released on DVD by Bandai Entertainment, this Season 1 collection includes all 13 original episodes in dual-language presentation.
