Dragon Ball Super The Movie - Broly Blu-ray & DVD

Forty-one years before the present, on Planet Vegeta, a low-class Saiyan warrior named Paragus discovers that his newborn son Broly has a battle power that dwarfs even the king's elite. King Vegeta, threatened by what this infant might become, exiles the baby to a desolate frontier planet. Paragus follows, and across the following decades raises Broly in an environment of brutal isolation, dependent on and controlled by his father, his extraordinary power never properly understood or cultivated — only contained. When Frieza's forces discover them and bring them back into the larger universe, everything Broly has been holding back begins to surface. Goku and Vegeta encounter him on Earth and realize within moments that they are facing something unprecedented: a Saiyan whose power is not just extraordinary but growing continuously in combat, exponentially, without apparent ceiling. The battle that follows is one of the most spectacular action sequences ever produced in anime. Gogeta will be required.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the twentieth Dragon Ball theatrical film, directed by Tatsuya Nagamine — the series director of Dragon Ball Super's Universal Survival arc — and written by Akira Toriyama himself, who also redesigned the characters for this film. It premiered in Japan on December 14, 2018, and opened in North American theaters on January 16, 2019, earning over US$100 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing Dragon Ball film ever made. The film is notable for canonizing both Broly and Gogeta into the main Dragon Ball timeline for the first time. The Blu-ray debuted at number one selling 298,048 copies in its first week, raising more than $6 million in retail stores in the U.S. The film was released on April 16, 2019 in the DVD and Blu-ray formats by FUNimation. A single-disc DVD/digital release, a two-disc DVD & Blu-ray combo pack, and a collector's edition SteelBook are available. Note: this marks the final performance of Vic Mignogna as Broly before his dismissal from FUNimation, and was also Chris Ayres' last unshared performance as Frieza before his passing in 2021.
