Dragonball Z: The Movie Tree of Might DVD

A spacecraft carrying a group of space pirates crash-lands on Earth, and the impact triggers a distress beacon that also scatters seeds across the planet. These are no ordinary seeds. They belong to the Tree of Might — a colossal cosmic plant that, once rooted, will drain every last bit of life energy from the Earth to fuel its growth, leaving the planet a dead husk. When Goku and the Z-Fighters attempt to destroy it, they discover that their combined power isn't enough. The tree's energy is being harvested and consumed by Turles — a Saiyan warrior who bears a striking physical resemblance to Goku, but whose path took a very different direction. Each fruit of the Tree of Might exponentially multiplies its consumer's power, and Turles intends to take his place among the most powerful beings in the universe. When Gohan is captured, Goku faces a confrontation with a dark reflection of himself — another survivor of their destroyed homeworld who chose conquest over everything else.

Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might is the third Dragon Ball Z theatrical film, originally released in Japan on July 7, 1990 as part of the Toei Anime Fair triple feature. It stands apart from the other early DBZ movies for its specially created opening sequence — rather than reusing the TV series opener, it features the Z-Fighters gathering the Dragon Balls to restore a forest destroyed in the film's opening — and for its villain Turles, one of the most memorable original antagonists in the film series.

Originally released in North America on bilingual DVD by Pioneer Entertainment on March 17, 1998 (the first uncut DVD release), then later reissued by FUNimation Entertainment in 2006 as part of the "First Strike" movie boxset with a new in-house re-dub and both Japanese and English audio tracks.
