Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure DVD

Kazuki Yotsuga has a problem nobody believes: he keeps seeing vivid visions of giant robots locked in combat in a world that looks exactly like his own — except it isn't. His classmates think he's an otaku writing elaborate battle fantasies on his website. His teacher, the eccentric scientist Ken Sanada, thinks otherwise. When Sanada transports Kazuki into the parallel dimension he's been glimpsing, the visions turn out to be completely real — and the giant white Core Robot Hartzenen responds only to Kazuki. Suddenly a nerdy, ordinary high school student finds himself drafted into the Earth Defense Force, piloting a legendary mecha in a war against the technologically superior Rara Army, living in Sanada's house with his daughter Mitsuki, and accumulating housemates at an increasingly alarming rate — including D, a mysterious alien bioroid of very few words who quietly attaches herself to him, and Yayoi Schwael, Hartzenen's original injured pilot who is extremely enthusiastic about her replacement. Getting home is the plan. Surviving the week is the immediate priority.

Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure is a 1999 mecha comedy series created by Masaki Kajishima — the mastermind behind the Tenchi Muyo! franchise — and produced by AIC. Equal parts loving tribute and gentle parody of the giant robot genre (with particular affection aimed at Neon Genesis Evangelion), Dual! delivers sharp comedic timing, genuine mecha action, and a charmingly expanding harem of capable female characters. Fans of Tenchi Muyo! will find deep connections: Kajishima has confirmed that Dual! and Tenchi Muyo! GXP exist in the same universe, with events and characters echoing across both franchises.
