Emerald Dragon - Super Famicom

Emerald Dragon for the Super Famicom is a 1995 tactical fantasy JRPG — originally created by Glodia and brought to Nintendo's 16-bit console by Alfa System — set in a rich world rooted in ancient Zoroastrian mythology. Players follow Atorushan, a proud hero of the Dragon Tribe who casts off his draconic form to descend into the human realm of Ishbahn. Alongside his childhood friend Tamryn, Atorushan sets out on a quest to lift a deadly curse and gather the legendary Emerald Graces to save the land from impending doom.

The Super Famicom release heavily overhauls the gameplay of the original PC versions, introducing an engaging overhead battle system that blends real-time positioning with tactical turn management. Party members move across dynamic battlefields, using action points to position themselves, execute melee attacks, or cast devastating magic. As battles progress, Atorushan can tap into his true dragon powers to turn the tide against ferocious monsters and rival warlords.

Considered one of the premier late-era JRPGs on the system, Emerald Dragon showcases stunning 16-bit pixel art, vibrant character portraits, and an evocative soundtrack composed by Yuzo Koshiro and Mieko Ishikawa. The Super Famicom version delivers streamlined pacing and accessible menu-driven combat, making it a standout entry in Japan's rich catalog of 16-bit role-playing games.

Released exclusively in Japan on July 28, 1995, Emerald Dragon was never officially localized or released in the West. This is a Japan-import cartridge. The Super Famicom cartridge will play natively on Japanese Super Famicom consoles, or on North American Super Nintendo (SNES) systems with physical region tabs removed or via a passthrough cartridge adapter.
