Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord for the Nintendo Switch is a tactical JRPG developed by Idea Factory and Compile Heart, set in a world shaped by an ancient war between a benevolent Goddess and a destructive Vile God — a conflict so catastrophic it shattered civilization and left both deities sealed away, their power scattered across the land in the form of weapons called Furies. The story follows Fang, a roguish young Fencer with the rare ability to wield Fury-imbued weapons, and his companions as they search for more Furies in hopes of awakening the Goddess. Their journey takes an unexpected turn when they encounter two mysterious women who call themselves Muses — one who heals with her song, and one who brainwashes with hers — and Fang's fate becomes entangled in a conflict far larger than he ever imagined.

Refrain Chord introduces an all-new Tactical RPG battle system, a significant departure from previous entries in the franchise. Battles play out on grid-based stages where terrain and environmental objects like rocks, boxes, and grass affect evasion and movement, and strategic positioning is essential to survival. The returning Avalanche Attack and Fairize transformation mechanics are joined by the brand-new Muse system, which lets players channel the power of song to buff allies across an area of effect — though enemies within range benefit too, adding a risk-reward dimension. The world map features a revamped Location Shaping system where players stab Furies into specific map locations to unlock hidden areas, items, and new Fairies. Multiple story routes lead to different endings depending on the player's choices.

Published by Idea Factory International, Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord is the latest mainline entry in the series following the original Fairy Fencer F and its Advent Dark Force expansion.
