Narumi Momose is starting fresh at a new job, determined to hide her otaku side after past relationships fell apart due to her fujoshi hobbies. Her plans fall apart instantly when she’s spotted by her childhood friend Hirotaka Nifuji, a handsome, socially blunt gaming addict who casually exposes her fandom habits. Instead of embarrassment, Narumi finds unexpected support—and soon enters a relationship with Hirotaka that’s equal parts awkward, sweet, and deeply relatable.
Alongside their coworkers Hanako Koyanagi, a closet cosplayer, and Taro Kabakura, a tsundere-loving otaku, the couple navigates adult life, conventions, gaming sessions, jealousy, friendship, and the growing warmth between two people who understand each other’s passions.
Wotakoi blends slice-of-life comedy, adult romance, otaku culture, and everyday workplace stories, creating a modern love story rooted in shared fandom and quiet emotional honesty.
Fujita began Wotakoi as a casual webcomic on Pixiv, inspired by real otaku couples and the desire to portray adult romance where fandom is part of daily life—not something to hide.
After its Pixiv success, Fujita worked with Ichijinsha editors to adapt the short-form webstrip into full-length serialized chapters, shaping the manga’s pacing and structure.
