Shuichi Shindou is the lead singer of Bad Luck, a rising pop band signed to a major label whose recording deadline is looming — and whose lyrics Shuichi still hasn't finished. Walking through the park late one night with his unfinished lyrics, a gust of wind sends them flying into the hands of a striking stranger who reads them and delivers a blunt verdict: zero talent. The stranger is Eiri Yuki, Japan's most celebrated romance novelist — cold, beautiful, and comprehensively uninterested in other people. Shuichi is furious. Then he is obsessed. Then he is in love. Yuki's walls are formidable and his past is dark, and the relationship that develops between them is defined by Shuichi's limitless emotional openness crashing against Yuki's systematic self-containment — while Bad Luck's career builds toward a climactic concert showdown with the legendary Nittle Grasper, the band whose lead singer Ryuichi Sakuma is Shuichi's lifelong idol and an unpredictable force in both their lives.
Gravitation is a 13-episode boys' love romantic comedy drama produced by Studio Deen — the studio behind Fushigi Yugi and Junjou Romantica.
Songs performed in the series were composed and performed by Daisuke Asakura and Kinya Kotani, who also voices Shuichi. The series was one of the most commercially successful boys' love anime in North American licensing history — the manga sold nearly half a million copies in North America and topped BookScan's BL chart in 2005.
