Hagane: The Final Conflict for the Super Nintendo is one of the rarest and most sought-after action platformers ever released on the console — and one of the most brutally demanding. The Koma Clan has massacred an entire ninja clan in pursuit of a Holy Grail capable of destroying the world. One man survives the slaughter — barely — and is rebuilt as a cybernetic ninja warrior using advanced cyber-technology. That man is Hagane, and he rises with one purpose: revenge.

The gameplay is relentless and rewarding in equal measure. Hagane's arsenal spans four weapon types — katana, chain whip, grenades, and throwing knives — switchable on the fly to suit each encounter. His movement system is the game's true depth: wall jumps, ceiling climbs, double jumps, dashes, slides, somersaults, and flying kick attacks combine into a fluid toolkit that takes time to fully master. Performing a front flip builds accumulated power that enhances the next attack or jump depending on how much energy has been charged — six enhanced move variants reward players who have learned the system inside out. Five stages split into multiple sub-stages provide the backdrop, alongside a Mode 7 third-person driving sequence that breaks up the side-scrolling action, and boss encounters that demand pattern recognition and precise execution.

Hagane was never given a standard commercial retail release in North America — it was distributed exclusively as a Blockbuster Video rental title, severely limiting the number of copies that reached the public. As a result, complete copies have become extraordinarily rare and command significant prices on the secondary market — RetroGame Man noted prices around $800 at the time of their review, with values continuing to climb. Total! magazine ranked it 45th in their Top 100 SNES Games in 1995, writing that "the graphics are moody and the gameplay is not only fast but furious." Developed by CAProduction and published by Hudson Soft in 1994.
