Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - XBOX

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for the original Xbox is the 2003 console version of EA's game adaptation of J.K. Rowling's first novel, developed by Warthog Games. This is a distinct game from the 2001 PC and PlayStation versions — built from scratch by a different development team for the sixth-generation hardware, with entirely reworked graphics, new locations, additional characters, a day/night cycle, and a different structure than the earlier releases. The story follows Harry Potter through his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: arriving on the Hogwarts Express, sorting into Gryffindor, attending classes with Professors Snape, Flitwick, and McGonagall, learning to fly on a broomstick, playing Quidditch, and ultimately confronting Professor Quirrell and the presence of Voldemort in the depths of Hogwarts.

Gameplay is a third-person action-adventure structured around school days at Hogwarts. Each day presents objectives tied to attending classes, exploring the castle and its grounds, solving puzzles, and battling magical creatures. Spells are learned progressively from teachers and assigned to buttons for use in combat and puzzle-solving — Flipendo, Alohomora, Wingardium Leviosa, and others each serve specific gameplay functions. Wizard Card collectibles are hidden throughout the castle and grounds, Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans serve as in-game currency for purchases, and house points track performance across activities. The Xbox version uses 3D graphics to render Hogwarts castle, its grounds, Hagrid's hut, and the Forbidden Forest in significantly more visual detail than the earlier PS1 and PC releases.

Developed by Warthog Games and published by EA Games, the Xbox version released in North America on December 9, 2003. The music was composed by Jeremy Soule, written independently of John Williams's film score, with its own original themes. The Xbox version is backward compatible on Xbox 360.
