"A means to survive... Panic or Alchemy. The choice is yours, but remember... fear is a deadly poison."

Trapped in a sprawling, gothic castle after a tragic car accident kills her parents, Haunting Ground follows Fiona Belli, an ordinary young woman who discovers she is the sole heiress to a dark and twisted family legacy. The narrative dives into psychological horror as Fiona becomes the prey of the castle’s eccentric, mutated inhabitants, who hunt her out of a terrifying obsession to extract an esoteric element called "Azoth" hidden within her body. Guided by cryptic clues and stalked by unrelenting pursuers, Fiona must unravel the sinister secrets of Belli Castle, solve intricate puzzles, and confront her family's twisted alchemical experiments to find a way to escape.

The gameplay is a tense blend of third-person survival horror and puzzle solving, heavily centered on relying on your dog to help you. Players must forge a bond with Hewie, a white German Shepherd, commanding him to attack pursuers, scavenge for hidden items, and trigger environment traps essential for survival. Since Fiona has no direct combat capabilities, players must rely on hiding in shadows, under beds, or inside closets to evade her stalkers. Survival depends on managing Fiona's unique "Panic Meter," which impairs visibility, alters controls, and causes her to stumble blindly into danger when her fear reaches a breaking point.
