Hyper Doll DVD

Somewhere in the cosmos, a being called Zaiclit has been dispatching monsters to Earth with plans of conquest. Standing between him and planetary domination are the Hyper Dolls — a pair of extraordinarily powerful alien androids assigned by their  commander to protect the Earth. Mew Fumizuki has short blue hair, a relaxed disposition, and a genuine preference for ice cream over monster fighting. Mica Minazuki has long red hair, more energy, and an equally genuine preference for arguing with Mew over anything resembling responsibility. Together they pose as ordinary high school students, which mostly works except for their classmate Hideo Akai — has discovered their secret identities, lives in daily terror of them, and has been pressed into service as their unofficial wrangler. When Zaiclit sends a super-sized jellyfish-octopus at Tokyo or a giant intelligent earthworm to threaten the planet, Mew and Mica will eventually deal with it — after finishing their snacks! 

Hyper Doll is a two-episode OVA based on Shimpei Itoh's manga and produced by Animate Film, released in Japan in September and November 1995. It is a cheerful parody of the magical girl and superhero transformation genre, built entirely on the premise that its protagonists are phenomenally capable and profoundly unmotivated — a comedic inversion of the earnest dedication that defines most genre entries. The English dub was produced by Animaze in Los Angeles and features Steve Blum as The Commander.

 Originally released in North America on VHS by Pioneer Entertainment on July 19, 1996; released on DVD November 21, 2000, collecting both episodes on a single disc.
