Naraku is dead. After countless episodes of pursuit and narrowly survived battles, the group has done it — the half-demon who cursed Miroku's family with the Wind Tunnel, enslaved Sango's brother Kohaku, and orchestrated their suffering for so long has apparently been destroyed. The Wind Tunnel disappears from Miroku's hand. Kohaku, freed from Naraku's control, is found by his sister alive though amnesiac. Everyone begins, cautiously, to return to something resembling normal life. Kagome goes back to school. Inuyasha stands awkwardly in the modern era not knowing what to do with himself. The peace lasts approximately one scene. A new threat is assembling: Kaguya, a celestial being from Japanese legend — the bamboo princess who came from the Moon — has been imprisoned for a thousand years, and Naraku's associates Kagura and Kanna have been manipulated into gathering the five items needed to free her. Kaguya's plan is to freeze the world into eternal stasis under a permanent full moon.
Inuyasha the Movie 2: The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass is the second theatrical film in the Inuyasha franchise, directed by Toshiya Shinohara and written by Katsuyuki Sumisawa — the same director-writer team as the first film. It was released in Japan on December 21, 2002, set between episodes 95 and 96 of the TV series, and in North America on DVD by Viz Media on December 28, 2004. The film's character designs were revised closer to Rumiko Takahashi's original manga style rather than the TV anime's Yoshihito Hishinuma designs — a noticeable visual shift for returning viewers.
