JoJo's Bizarre Adventure for the PlayStation 1 is Capcom's legendary arcade fighting game adaptation of Hirohiko Araki's iconic manga series, ported to home console with a wealth of exclusive content that makes it the definitive version of the game.

The story is based on Part 3 of the manga — Stardust Crusaders — following Jotaro Kujo and the Joestar family as they travel from Japan to Egypt to confront the immortal vampire DIO, who has attached himself to the body of the original Jonathan Joestar. Each fighter in the game is drawn from this arc, with the manga's trademark eccentric characters, outrageously flamboyant poses, and explosive Stand battles rendered in Capcom's gorgeous CPS-III hand-drawn animation style — the same technology that powered Street Fighter III and Darkstalkers.

The Stand system is the heart of the gameplay: each character can summon or dismiss their Stand at will, and doing so fundamentally changes their moveset, speed, and available attacks. With a Stand active, players can execute devastating Tandem Attacks — commanding the Stand to unleash rapid independent strikes while the player simultaneously attacks — creating overwhelming two-character combo sequences unlike anything else in fighting games of the era. Power gauges fuel super moves, and the Blazing Fists system triggers rapid-fire button duels when two powerful moves collide simultaneously. The PS1 version is a unique hybrid of both arcade releases — JoJo's Venture and the updated Heritage for the Future — and includes the exclusive Super Story Mode, a full single-player campaign that adapts Volumes 13 to 28 of the manga with battles, side-scrolling sequences, mini-games including a car chase and games of chance, and quick-time event stages that bring iconic manga moments to life.

Originally developed by the same team behind Street Fighter III and released in arcades on the CPS-III board in 1998, the PlayStation port launched the same year and remains the only home console version to include Super Story Mode — the Dreamcast version advertised it but shipped without it. The PS1 version is a hybrid of both JoJo's Venture and Heritage for the Future, making it the most content-complete standalone console release of the game ever produced. A high-definition digital version was released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, but no modern physical release exists, making this original PS1 disc a prized collector's item — especially for JoJo fans who want the Super Story Mode experience in physical form.
