All three couples from the first season return — and each relationship deepens in new and complicated ways. In Romantica, Misaki and Usami are slowly growing closer, but their dynamic is tested when Usami's older brother Haruhiko appears and begins competing for Misaki's attention, triggering both jealousy and unwanted revelations. In Egoist, Nowaki's fear that Hiroki doesn't fully reciprocate his feelings — expressed in small, telling moments like Hiroki refusing to let him use his given name — drives a quiet crisis in their relationship. In Terrorist, Miyagi and Shinobu navigate the specific difficulty of a relationship built on one person's absolute certainty and the other's deep ambivalence.
Junjou Romantica Season 2 is a 12-episode continuation of the first season, directed by Chiaki Kon, produced by Studio Deen, and airing from October to December 2008 on TV Hokkaido.
