Kakifly - K-On! College Manga

K-On! College is a standalone manga volume by Kakifly, following the original K-On! series and its companion volume K-On! High School. Picking up after graduation, Yui, Mio, Ritsu, and Tsumugi have made it to the same university together - and within about five minutes of arriving, the question of whether to join a music club is already settled. What is less settled: living away from home for the first time, navigating a campus that moves at a very different pace than Sakuragaoka High School, and figuring out what Afterschool Tea Time sounds like when there's no club room to return to and no Azusa waiting at the door. Meanwhile, back at Sakuragaoka, Azusa continues running the light music club with Jun and Ui, holding the fort for a group that has graduated but left a very specific kind of absence behind.

K-On! College is exactly what the original series always was - comfort reading of the highest order, built on small moments and familiar faces navigating a slightly larger world with the same endearing mix of enthusiasm and incompetence. Kakifly's 4-koma format gives each page a brisk, punchy rhythm, and the college setting opens up just enough new territory - new classmates, a rival band called The Girlz, dorm life. It functions as a warm epilogue to the main series.

Published by Yen Press in English in 2015, K-On! College is now out of print in its standalone edition and increasingly difficult to find at a reasonable price — it has since been collected alongside the original series in the K-On!: The Complete Omnibus Edition. A must for any fan who wants the full Afterschool Tea Time story from first rehearsal to university pop music club.
