According to ancient tradition, when a young witch turns thirteen, she must leave home for a year to live independently in a new town and hone her craft. Kiki, a bright and adventurous young girl, packs her broomstick, packs her radio, and sets off into the night with her sarcastic black cat, Jiji. Settling in the picturesque coastal city of Koriko, Kiki quickly realizes that fitting into a big city is tougher than she thought. Leveraging her only clear magical skill—flying—she opens a flying delivery service based out of a local bakery. However, as self-doubt and the challenges of growing up begin to set in, Kiki finds her magical abilities suddenly fading. To recover her powers, she must rediscover her inner passion and learn what it truly means to trust herself.
