Ko Yamori is a restless, insomniac middle-school dropout who wanders the city at night, feeling disconnected from both school and society—until he meets Nazuna Nanakusa, a carefree vampire who offers him refuge in the darkness. Intrigued by her freedom and the thrill of the nocturnal world, Ko decides he wants to become a vampire too—but in this world, the only way to do that is to fall in love with the vampire who bites you.

As Ko spends more nights with Nazuna, he’s drawn into a community of vampires with strict rules, deadly instincts, and complicated emotions. Rival vampires, wandering humans, and the dangers of the night challenge Ko’s resolve as he tries to understand the nature of love, desire, and belonging.
Call of the Night blends supernatural romance, moody urban atmosphere, thriller elements, and coming-of-age introspection, creating a stylish nocturnal adventure full of humor and longing.

Kotoyama created the series to capture the emotional “freedom of nighttime,” inspired by his own habit of walking through silent city streets and observing how the night feels like a different world.

Creator Collaboration: When the anime adaptation was greenlit, Japanese hip-hop group Creepy Nuts collaborated directly with the production team because their song “Yofukashi no Uta” ("Call of the Night") inspired the manga’s title and aesthetic.
