The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for the Wii U is the definitive version of one of the most beloved entries in the Zelda franchise — a sweeping, cinematic dark fantasy epic that remains one of the most atmospherically rich adventures Nintendo has ever produced. Link begins the game as a humble farm hand in the quiet village of Ordon, but when the land of Hyrule is plunged into an unnatural twilight by the shadowy usurper Zant — the self-proclaimed King of Shadows — Link finds himself cursed into the form of a wolf and thrust into a battle for the fate of two worlds. Guided by Midna, a mischievous and mysterious imp-like creature from the Twilight Realm, Link must travel between the sunlit world of Hyrule and the eerie Twilight Realm, restoring light to the land, dungeon by dungeon, while uncovering the origins of a darkness far older and more dangerous than Zant himself.
The Wii U remaster brings Twilight Princess into full 1080p HD — six times the pixel count of the original GameCube and Wii versions — with reworked textures and lighting that make the game's already stunning environments feel genuinely new. The Wii U GamePad touch screen lets players equip items and view maps without pausing, motion controls are used for the Hero's Bow and other precise aiming, and Off-TV Play allows the entire game to be played on the GamePad screen alone. Hero Mode — available from the start — mirrors the entire world of Hyrule and doubles enemy damage for a significantly harder playthrough. The game also features full amiibo support: the Wolf Link amiibo unlocks the exclusive Cave of Shadows dungeon, a challenging series of combat trials that records your best hearts remaining for use in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Developed and published by Nintendo, Twilight Princess HD launched worldwide on March 4, 2016 — ten years after the original game's release. It is the second Zelda remaster on Wii U following The Wind Waker HD, and stands as the only way to experience Twilight Princess in high definition on a home console. The standard edition includes the game disc and a download code for the Twilight Princess HD digital soundtrack.
