Misaki Ayuzawa is the first female student council president of Seika High School — formerly all-male, now co-ed, and still overwhelmingly populated by boys who need firm management. She rules the school with an iron will and a reputation for zero-tolerance discipline. What nobody at school knows is that she secretly works evenings at a maid café to support her struggling family. When the school's most popular and frustratingly perceptive student, Usui Takumi, discovers her secret, he decides to keep it — in exchange for her company. Misaki cannot stand him. He finds this endlessly entertaining. Their relationship evolves from antagonism to something neither of them can comfortably name, while Misaki navigates organized crime entanglements, irritating transfer students, and the general chaos of high school student government.

Maid Sama! is a 26-episode romantic comedy plus one OVA, produced by J.C. Staff, directed by Hiroaki Sakurai, and based on Hiro Fujiwara's manga serialized in LaLa magazine under Hakusensha. It aired on TBS and BS-TBS from April to September 2010. The Sentai Filmworks DVD Complete Collection was released October 9, 2012 across 5 discs with subtitle-only audio. Sentai Filmworks later produced an English dub released on DVD and Blu-ray on January 27, 2015 — so this subtitle-only 2012 release precedes the dubbed version. The series is among the most popular shojo romantic comedies of the 2010s and is streamable on HIDIVE.
