Mario Party: Star Rush for the Nintendo 3DS is the dynamic 2016 installment in Nintendo's iconic party game franchise — designed specifically to deliver fast-paced, portable multiplayer action. Breaking away from traditional turn-based board movement where players travel together, Star Rush introduces a simultaneous turn system in its main "Toad Scramble" mode, allowing all players to roll their dice and move across open, grid-based maps at the exact same time.
Players begin as Toads and race across maps to recruit iconic Mushroom Kingdom allies like Mario, Peach, Yoshi, and Bowser. Recruited allies join your party on the board, adding their own unique character dice rolls to your total and directly assisting you in chaotic boss minigames. The game is packed with a wide variety of modes, including Coin Chaos, Balloon Bash, Rhythm Recital, and Mario's Gammon, offering over 50 brand-new minigames that fully utilize the 3DS touchscreen and motion controls.
Praised for cutting down wait times and bringing back competitive strategy to the board game format, Mario Party: Star Rush offers flexible multiplayer options — supporting full 4-player local multiplayer via Download Play or through the free downloadable Mario Party: Star Rush - Party Guest Edition software.
Released in North America on November 4, 2016, Mario Party: Star Rush is an essential multiplayer title for the 3DS family. Note that Nintendo 3DS games are region-locked, so this North American cartridge will only play on North American Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, New 3DS, and New 2DS XL hardware.
