Alone is the eighth studio album by guitarist Masayoshi Takanaka, capturing a peak moment of his solo career where his signature jazz fusion drive meets city pop shimmer and funk-forward rhythms. Originally released on vinyl and cassette in December 1981, the album reached number 5 on the Oricon charts and remains a definitive fan favorite, notable for tracks like its atmospheric title track and "Penguin Dancer" (which later gained renewed attention after being sampled by Grimes).
This is the reissue pressed on 180g Clear Deep Blue vinyl, catalog UPJY-9525, meticulously remastered and lacquer-cut from the original high-resolution master tapes by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios in London. Replicating the rare collectibility of the original release, this edition features an authentic obi strip and comes complete with a bonus single-sided red 7-inch EP containing the film-record track "WHITE LAGOON," which was originally included exclusively as a flexi-disc with the 1981 first pressing.
