Mobile Suit Gundam: Seed - Blu-Ray

Cosmic Era 70. The Coordinators — genetically enhanced humans who have colonized the PLANT orbital colonies — and the Naturals of the Earth Alliance are locked in devastating war following the Bloody Valentine massacre. Kira Yamato is a Coordinator living peacefully in the neutral colony of Heliopolis when ZAFT forces raid the facility to steal prototype mobile suits. In the chaos, Kira ends up piloting the last of the stolen units — the Strike Gundam — to defend his friends, and finds himself fighting against the Earth Alliance he barely knows alongside soldiers he has just met. Complicating everything is Athrun Zala: Kira's childhood best friend, now a ZAFT pilot, now the enemy. Both young men fight for what they believe is right. Neither is entirely wrong. Between them stands the entire machinery of a war that neither started.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED is the 50-episode tenth mainline entry in the Gundam franchise, produced by Sunrise and directed by Mitsuo Fukuda with series composition by the late Chiaki Morosawa. It aired on MBS and TBS from October 2002 to September 2003 and won the Animage Anime Grand Prix in 2002 — one of only a handful of Gundam series to do so. The series draws parallels to the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam while building an entirely new cosmology around genetic discrimination, religious extremism, and the moral weight of soldiers who cannot stop fighting a war they privately question.

The Collector's Ultra Edition Blu-ray released December 1, 2020 — exclusively through Right Stuf's website — is the definitive North American release. It contains episodes 1–48 of the HD TV Remastered series, episodes 1–50 of the original SD TV series, and three Special Edition movie compilations directed by Mitsuo Fukuda, alongside over 2 hours of video extras, an exclusive 118-page hardcover art book, and a double-sided tear-out poster. Episodes 1–50 of the original series SD release and compilations are only available through this Ultra Edition. An initial pressing error used broadcast masters rather than the revised HD Remaster; affected copies were replaced with corrected home video masters.
