Cosmic Era 73. Two years after the Bloody Valentine War, an uneasy peace holds between the PLANTS colonies and the Atlantic Federation β€” a peace that shatters when a radical faction steals prototype Gundam units from a ZAFT facility. At the center of the new conflict is Shin Asuka, a young ZAFT pilot consumed by grief: his entire family was killed during the Battle of Orb, and his rage has made him one of ZAFT's most ferocious fighters. Piloting the Impulse Gundam from aboard the warship Minerva, Shin pursues the stolen units alongside his commanding officer Athrun Zala β€” the former Gundam pilot from the original SEED war, now operating under an assumed name and increasingly troubled by the agenda of PLANT Supreme Council Chairman Gilbert Durandal. As the war escalates and Durandal's true plan for humanity comes into focus, the Archangel and its crew β€” including a returned Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne β€” find themselves once again fighting against a tide that threatens to drown everyone.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny is a 50-episode sequel to Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, produced by Sunrise and directed by Mitsuo Fukuda with series composition by the late Chiaki Morosawa β€” the husband-and-wife creative team behind the original series. It aired on MBS and TBS from October 2004 to September 2005 and was one of the highest-rated anime of its broadcast period in Japan, continuing the franchise's Commercial success. The series also spawned four Special Edition compilation films.

Bandai Entertainment released the series on DVD in North America beginning March 14, 2006 across 12 individual dvds, with the twelfth and final volume β€” the Special Edition compilation β€” released January 8, 2008. Volume 12 contains the Special Edition compilation film collecting the series finale arc and includes a collector's box.

The Nozomi Entertainment Collector's Ultra Edition Blu-ray (November 9, 2021) is the definitive collector's release and includes HD remaster, original SD episodes, Final Plus, all four Special Editions, and the Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer OVA.Β
