Fifteen years ago, Nao’s world shattered when her mother, a live-in confectioner at the prestigious wagashi shop Kogetsuan, was arrested for the murder of the shop's owner. The conviction rested on the testimony of the owner's young son, Tsubaki, who was Nao's first friend and childhood crush. Now 21 and a talented sweets maker herself, Nao unexpectedly reunites with Tsubaki during a confectionery competition. Tsubaki does not recognize Nao and, impressed by her skill, impulsively proposes a marriage of convenience to help him secure his inheritance against his hostile family. Seizing the opportunity to clear her mother's name, Nao accepts and moves into the lion's den of Kogetsuan under a false identity. As she navigates a web of family secrets, sabotage, and the shop’s strict traditions, she finds herself dangerously drawn to the very man she intended to hate.
