In a world where the old legends are real, the Darkstalkers — vampires, werewolves, succubi, mummies, and creatures of every mythological tradition — coexist uneasily with humanity in a world where the human realm and the demon world are slowly merging. Demitri Maximoff is a vampire of immense power, biding his time on his throne in Makai, waiting for his strength to return after a century of exile. Morrigan Aensland is a succubus princess of the House Aensland, bored with her responsibilities and seeking entertainment among mortals. Felicia is a catwoman struggling for acceptance in a world that fears what she is. Donovan Baine is a dhampir — half human, half darkstalker — who fights the creatures of the dark not from any allegiance to humanity but from his own desperate need to rid himself of the cursed blood within him, accompanied by the silent, unsettling child Anita. Into this simmering conflict descends Pyron, an alien entity who has been collecting planets across the galaxy and has now set his sights on Earth — planning to destroy the Darkstalkers first, as they are the only beings powerful enough to oppose him.

Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge is a four-episode OVA produced by Madhouse and directed by Masashi Ikeda, based on Capcom's Darkstalkers/Vampire fighting game series. Known in Japan as Vampire Hunter: The Animated Series, it was released in Japan in 1997–1998. The production team was assembled largely from the Mobile Suit Gundam Wing staff, as suggested by character designer Shūkō Murase — who also worked on Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. The English dub was produced by Viz Video in 1999 with screenplay adaptation by Toshifumi Yoshida and Trish Ledoux. Viz Video released it on DVD in 2000 in two volumes (Alpha: eps 1–2 / Omega: eps 3–4). Discotek Media released the remastered Complete OVA Collection on a single DVD on July 26, 2016, collecting all four episodes with both language tracks. Note: the English dub voice cast is uncredited on VHS and DVD packaging.
