Keiichi Morisato is a first-year engineering student at Nekomi Institute of Technology, a genuinely kind-hearted young man who has the worst luck of anyone on campus and cannot seem to change it. One afternoon, stuck in his dormitory taking phone messages and trying to order delivery food, he dials a wrong number and reaches something he has no framework for: the Goddess Help Line. A moment later, a breathtakingly beautiful woman steps out of the mirror on his wall and introduces herself as Belldandy — a goddess, first class, unlimited license — who has been dispatched by the Almighty to grant him exactly one wish. Convinced he is being pranked by his seniors, Keiichi makes the first wish that comes to mind: that a goddess like her would stay with him forever. The Almighty's contract enforcement mechanism — the Ultimate Force — activates immediately. The wish is granted. Belldandy is now inseparable from Keiichi by cosmic law. His all-male dormitory promptly expels him. They move into an abandoned Buddhist temple. And then Belldandy's older sister Urd arrives, convinced the relationship isn't progressing fast enough and prepared to help in ways nobody asked for. Then younger sister Skuld arrives, furious that Belldandy has been kept away from home, equally unprepared to leave. Three goddesses, one deeply flustered engineering student, one temple, and a wish that cannot be undone.

Oh My Goddess! is a five-episode OVA produced by AIC and directed by Hiroaki Gōda, based on Kosuke Fujishima's beloved manga serialized in Monthly Afternoon — the same creator behind éX-Driver and You're Under Arrest.

The three goddess sisters are modeled on the Norse Norns — Urd (the past), Verdandi/Belldandy (the present), and Skuld (the future) — a mythological framework woven carefully into the series' emotional structure.

The OVA does not adapt any specific manga arc beyond the first episode's setup; its five episodes follow an original story.
