Saitama is an ordinary man who becomes a hero “for fun” after intense training leaves him so overwhelmingly powerful that he can defeat any enemy with a single punch. But absolute strength has a price—Saitama is bored, overlooked, and constantly searching for a challenge that might finally make him feel alive again.

Alongside his cyborg disciple Genos, Saitama becomes entangled with the Hero Association, monstrous threats, eccentric heroes, and villains whose ambitions far exceed their abilities. While Saitama’s strength ends every fight instantly, the world around him grows increasingly chaotic: alien invasions, martial arts tournaments, monster uprisings, and intricate power struggles within the hero ranks.

One-Punch Man blends over-the-top action, satire, comedy, and razor-sharp shōnen parody, contrasting Saitama’s effortless victories with the dramatic, high-stakes struggles of everyone around him.

The series began as a webcomic created by ONE, who wanted to play with the idea of a hero so powerful that traditional shōnen structure collapses. The “serious world vs. bored protagonist” dynamic became the core concept.

After the webcomic went viral, legendary artist Yusuke Murata approached ONE and offered to redraw the series professionally.
