OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast for the PlayStation 2 is the definitive home version of Sega's beloved OutRun arcade racing series, combining the content of both OutRun 2 and OutRun 2 SP into a single package with a substantial single-player mode built exclusively for the home release. Players select from 15 fully licensed Ferrari models including the F430, F430 Spider, Superamerica, 550 Barchetta, and 328 GTS, then race through 30 visually stunning stages spanning exotic coastal roads, alpine passes, desert highways, and dense forests.

The OutRun mode that anchors the game is pure arcade philosophy: race toward checkpoints before time runs out, take forks in the road to choose your route, and drift through corners with an accessible but satisfying physics model that rewards style over simulation. The Heart Attack mode tasks players with keeping a passenger happy by fulfilling her requests mid-race, adding a light challenge layer on top of the core driving. Coast 2 Coast mode is the game's primary single-player campaign, offering mission-based objectives across multiple stages to unlock new cars, music tracks, and courses using in-game OutRun Miles as currency. A Time Attack mode and full online play for up to six players rounds out the package.

The PS2 version supports connectivity with the PSP version, allowing shared progress and unlockables between both releases. Developed by Sumo Digital and Razorworks and published by Sega in North America on April 25, 2006. Retrostation called the gameplay a 10/10 and described it as "arcade racing in its finest form." The game was later delisted digitally in 2024 due to the expiration of Sega's Ferrari license, making physical copies the only way to own it.
