Overlord: Escape from Nazarick - Nintendo Switch

Overlord: Escape from Nazarick for the Nintendo Switch is a 2D dark fantasy Metroidvania developed by ENGINES and published by Kadokawa, set in the world of the Overlord light novel and anime series under the supervision of original creator Kugane Maruyama. Clementine — a ruthless warrior and fan-favorite character from the series — wakes up imprisoned deep within the Great Tomb of Nazarick, stripped of her weapons and a significant portion of her memories by none other than the supreme ruler Ainz Ooal Gown, who is using her as a subject for his experiments. To escape, she must fight her way through floor after floor of the tomb, defeating Ainz's most powerful servants while gradually reclaiming her lost abilities and piecing together the mystery of why she was taken.

The gameplay follows the classic Metroidvania structure: Clementine begins combat-limited and explores progressively deeper levels of Nazarick, unlocking new martial arts techniques, weapon types, and magic abilities as she advances. Her parkour agility allows for acrobatic platforming including wall jumps, dashes, and environmental navigation across the tomb's many distinct architectural zones. Weapons found throughout the tomb can be upgraded to exploit specific enemy weaknesses. Memory fragments are hidden across each stage and serve as both collectibles and story nodes that gradually reconstruct Clementine's past. A character assist system allows switching between party members in certain configurations.

This is the Japanese physical release, published by Kadokawa in Japan on June 16, 2022. A Western physical release followed via Limited Run Games as release #228. The Nintendo Switch is region-free and this Japanese cartridge will play on any Switch system worldwide.
