Reign: The Conqueror is one of the most visually audacious anime ever produced — a fever dream reimagining of Alexander the Great conceived by an international creative team and brought to life with the unmistakable aesthetic of Peter Chung, the Korean-American artist behind MTV's Æon Flux. All angular limbs, elongated silhouettes, and operatic excess, the series throws historical figures into a sci-fi fantasy mythology and never looks back. Produced by Madhouse and directed by Yoshinori Kanemori, with the screenplay by Sadayuki Murai, it aired in Japan on WOWOW in 1999 before making its North American debut on Adult Swim in 2003.
